Brecel and Trump went head-to-head in a bid to set up a semi-final showdown against Mark Williams,

The afternoon session saw both men land some big shots, with the game ending 8-8 ahead of the evening battle.

However, one moment saw Brecel make a major mistake.

The Belgian, known for his , attempted to play a safety shot using a red ball.

Brecel knocked it in the hope of protecting himself from Trump’s next shot.

But an unusual mis-hit saw the red ball ending up gliding along the table before being potted accidentally.

The crowd gasped as Brecel looked sheepish.

While the BBC commentator noted that he immediately apologised to Trump for the bizarre shot.

The commentator said: “It’s important to get a good cue ball here. Does he plan to pot it?

“Wow. No. He turns around to apologise!”;

The other pundit declared: “A total mis-hit, a total mis-hit. Is there another twist in this frame?”;

The first commentator then noted: “Wow, what a fluke this is.”;

Elsewhere, Zhao Xintong sealed his place in the World semis with victory over Chris Wakelin.

He will play either Si Jiahui or Ronnie O’Sullivan, with The Rocket currently leading 10-6.
