The Katsina State Government has disbursed over N274 million in compensation to landowners in Gidan Na-Banje, Kafur Local Government Area, for the establishment of a Federal College of Agriculture.
The state’s Commissioner for Lands and Physical Planning, Dr Faisal Umar Kaita, disclosed this during a cheque presentation ceremony held recently. He said 241 landowners received a total of N274,353,217.39 in compensation for the 100 hectares of land acquired for the project.
Dr Kaita noted that the compensation was in line with Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s policy of ensuring that all affected persons are fully compensated before the commencement of any government project.
He commended Alhaji Ibrahim Masari, a native of the area and Political Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for facilitating the siting of the college in Gidan Na-Banje. According to him, Masari played a pivotal role in lobbying the Federal Government as part of his commitment to the development of his community and state.
“When completed, this college will serve as a centre of excellence in agricultural innovation, training, and research, aligning perfectly with Governor Radda’s agricultural transformation agenda,”;; Dr Kaita stated.
