Police Command has warned motorists and road users against reckless driving, unauthorized use of sirens, and other traffic violations, stressing that defaulters will face legal consequences.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, said the directive is part of renewed efforts to enhance road safety and reduce accidents across the state.

“The Kano State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, is appealing to all road users to exercise caution and adhere strictly to traffic regulations to prevent accidents and ensure safety on Kano roads,”; the statement read.

The police highlighted several key concerns contributing to rising traffic-related incidents, including over-speeding, reckless driving, use of unauthorized tinted glasses, and the abuse of sirens by unauthorized individuals.

“Avoid reckless driving and over-jspeeding, which have been identified as major causes of road accidents. Refrain from the unauthorized use of sirens, which are strictly reserved for official use by emergency responders and other designated vehicles,”; the command warned.

The statement also emphasized the need for proper vehicle identification.

“Ensure number plates are clearly visible and not covered or tampered with, as this is crucial for identification and law enforcement purposes,”; it added.

To enforce compliance, the command said it has directed its officers to take strict action against violators.

“Defaulters will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law. Our officers have been directed to enforce traffic regulations strictly, and those found flouting these rules will face the consequences.

“By working together, we can significantly reduce the incidence of road accidents and make our roads safer for everyone,”; the statement concluded.
