Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has officially appointed retired Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Ibrahim Umaru as the new Commissioner for Internal Security.
The formal swearing-in ceremony took place at the 28th Executive Council meeting, which was held at the Government House located in the Kwankwasiyya residential area.
Prior to this appointment, AVM Umaru served as the Director-General of the Directorate of Special Services at the Kano State Government House, where he was responsible for overseeing various security matters.
In his address, Governor Yusuf urged the newly appointed commissioner to approach his duties with unwavering integrity, transparency, and a deep sense of responsibility in ensuring the safety and security of the state’s residents.
The oath of office was administered by Barrister Haruna Isa Dederi, the state’s Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General.
AVM Umaru, a retired senior officer of the Nigerian Air Force, brings with him extensive experience in security management. His appointment is expected to further enhance the state’s efforts in addressing internal security challenges.
