IPAC backs ban of live political broadcasts in Kano

Published on May 19, 2025 at 04:05 PM

The Inter-Party Advisory Council of Nigeria (IPAC), the umbrella body of all registered political parties in the country, has expressed support for the Kano State government’s decision to ban all live political broadcasts in the state.

Describing the move as a positive development, the chairman of IPAC in Kano state, Alhaji Isa Nuhu Isa in a remarks during a press briefing in Kano on Monday said,“the development is a welcome idea,”;; assuring that IPAC would engage stakeholders to ensure compliance with the government’s directive.

The ban on live political programs in Kano has attracted backlash, especially from the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).

However, the Kano state government has insisted it was a decision reached with Kano media house owners and not a media gag.
