ROCKSTAR’S highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI is set in the fictional land of Leonida, a sprawling reimagining of the state of Florida â with Vice City standing in for Miami.
The game’s map is not just a return to the 2002 Vice City featured in the classic PS2 game, but a sprawling interactive world including a variety of locations inspired by the US State it’s based on.

Gamers were dealt a fresh blow in May 2025, when Grand Theft Auto VI’s (GTA 6) creators revealed the game had officially been delayed until 2026.
Bosses at Rockstar Games said they were “very sorry”;; that GTA 6 will be released later than expected â May 26, 2026.
The gaming giant had planned to unleash their next title in fall 2025.
So while we wait with bated breath for the latest instalment of the fantastic felony-fulled franchise, here’s a breakdown of GTA 6’s map locations and their real-world counterparts.
Downtown Miami (Vice City)

Downtown Miami forms the basis of Vice City in GTA 6, with its skyline faithfully recreated.
The in-game area features a blend of luxury condos, business districts and cultural landmarks, mirroring the real-life vibrancy of Miami.
