FA Cup final: Why we beat Man City – Palace manager, Glasner

Published on May 17, 2025 at 08:24 PM

Crystal Palace manager, Oliver Glasner, has hailed his team’s spirit and togetherness as they beat Manchester City 1-0 in the FA Cup final on Saturday.

Ebere Eze scored the only goal at Wembley as the South London club won a trophy for the first time in their history.

Following a quick counter-attack, Eze slotted the ball past Stefan Ortega, to give Glasner’s men the lead.

However, they had goalkeeper Dean Henderson to thank, as he produced several fine saves to deny City.

“I can’t believe it, we had to defend so much. The spirit and togetherness on the pitch was amazing,”;; Glasner told BBC Match of the Day.

“It was all about being patient, we analysed that if you give them the pocket then they are so good.

“When they play with four attacking players it’s difficult to defend, but in transition we knew we could create overloads. No winger likes to defend. It was a great goal.”;;
