2025 U-20 AFCON: Harcourt faces late fitness test for Flying Eagles vs Egypt

Published on May 17, 2025 at 08:18 PM

The Flying Eagles are sweating over the fitness of first-choice goalkeeper Ebenezer Harcourt ahead of Sunday’s third-place match against hosts Egypt.

Harcourt sustained an injury during Nigeria’s 1–0 semi-final defeat to the Amajita of South Africa on Thursday.

The 15-year-old was replaced by Ajia Yakubu in the 51st minute.

Yakubu’s howler led to the winning goal, scored by Tylon Smith in the 66th minute.

Harcourt remains under observation and will face a late fitness test to determine his readiness to face the Young Pharaohs.

The encounter is scheduled to take place at the 30 June Air Defence Stadium in Cairo.
