Manchester United could earn a £100m bonus if they defeat Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final onWednesdaynight, but will wave goodbye to the money almost immediately.
The Red Devils are seeking to end a miserable campaign with a win over Spurs, that will also secure a place in next season’s Champions League.
A victory will also see United bank a £100m bonus. But the Premier League would have to “kiss it goodbye”;; almost immediately, the Daily Mail reports.
United are currently on course to lose £100m this financial year, meaning any Europa League jackpot will vanish straightaway.
Wall Street analysts have forecasted that the club will announce a third-quarter loss of £40m, with their current debts estimated to be around £1bn.
United co-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has previously claimed United could have “gone by bust by Christmas,”;; although those comments have been described as “very disingenuous”;; by football finance expert Kieran Maguire.
