Europa League: Amorim speaks on Man Utd sacking him after losing final to Tottenham

Published on May 22, 2025 at 05:20 AM

Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim, has said he will leave the club if they decide to sack him.

Amorim was speaking to the media following their 1-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League on Wednesday night.

Brennan Johnson scored the only goal of the match in the first half, to end Spurs’ 17-year trophy drought.

For United, it caps off one of their worst seasons in history, with the team set to finish in 16th place in the Premier League.

Amorim has now insisted he will not quit, except the club decide to fire him.

He said: “In this moment, I am not here to defend myself. It’s not my style. I have nothing to show to the fans. In this moment [I need] a little bit of faith.

“I am always open. If the board and the fans feel I’m not the right guy, I will go in the next day.

“But I will not quit again. I am confident in my job. As you see, I will not change anything in the way I do things.”;;
