The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede, has assured the people of Yobe State that Nigeria will not return to the dark days of Boko Haram insurgency, pledging enhanced military operations and stability in the region.

Speaking during a visit to Governor Mai Mala Buni in Damaturu on Wednesday, the Army Chief emphasized his commitment to preserving the hard-earned peace in Yobe, where he once served as a commander. He said the Nigerian Army is deploying more operational support and troops to strengthen security.

Oluyede stressed the importance of national unity in the fight against insecurity, warning that Nigeria’s survival depends on collective action. He also raised concerns about the deteriorating security situation in the Sahel region, noting its potential to destabilize surrounding areas if unchecked.

Governor Buni lauded the military’s efforts and pledged the state’s continued support while advocating for a more people-centered approach to intelligence gathering.

The COAS was accompanied by senior military officials, including the Theatre Commander, Provost Marshal, and Artillery Corps Commander.
