Criminals on INTERPOL red list arrested in Nigeria – FG reveals

The Nigeria government has announced the arrest of some wanted criminals by the International Criminal Police Organization, INTERPOL, in the country.

The Federal Government through the minister of interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, stated that the wanted criminals on the INTERPOL’s red list were captured at Nigerian airports.

Tunji-Ojo noted that the arrest which occurred within two days took place at the point of entering Nigeria.

The minister made this known in Lagos during the regional workshop on Maritime Border Security.

“I can tell you to a large extent, we’ve built robust database, and we are reaping the fruits. Now, it will interest you that in the last couple of weeks , within two days, a lot of people on the Interpol red list were arrested at our airports preventing them from coming in,”;; he said.

“One came from Italy, another one from Ireland, while others are from a couple of countries.

“They would have entered Nigeria if it were 18 years ago, but now we know that in terms of our air terminals, they are in sync because it is integrated into central system.”;;
