CORONATION Street aired a heartbreaking death as a cobbles legend passed away on the soap opera.
The but appeared to hint at an unexpected suicide twist.
Julie Carp, played by , passed away during a day out at the lakes with her sister, Eileen Grimshaw, .
Eileen after she went to collect the pair a cup of tea from a refreshment van.
Prior to , the episode kicked off with a monologue from the cobbles favourite as part of a goodbye video she was recording for her family and friends.
As part of the video, Julie said to the camera: “I’ve had a decent amount of insight into how people’s hearts work.
“I learned about love – usually the hard way, but those are the lessons we learn from most.
“You know, some folk, they don’t believe in the one – rubbish!
“Because, when you know, my god, you know.”;
A scene of Julie’s partner Brian collecting her flowers flashed up on the screen as she recited her words.
Julie continued: “It might take five minutes or five years but when that penny drops, you realise what your life is for.
“How it feels to care about someone else, more than you’ll ever care about yourself.”;
Julie’s speech continued as she reflected on life and love.
Later, she planned for a day out with Eileen but made sure to speak at length with her nephew Todd and partner Brian before they went away.
She praised Todd and sympathised with him amid his ongoing romantic difficulty with Theo.
Julie thanked Brian for his love and devotion and she hugged them both tightly in what appeared to be a goodbye hug – unbeknown to them.
Eventually, Julie and Eileen arrived at the lake where they shared a heart-to-heart with one another with Julie insisting there was no one else she would rather be with.
She then asked her sister to fetch them some drinks from a refreshment van some distance away but upon Eileen returning, Julie had passed away.
Having called the paramedics, they revealed Julie had a DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) order in place and as such there was nothing more they could do for her.
Beside herself, Eileen returned home where she sobbed over the passing of her sister.
George told her that during their day at the lake, he discovered another video on Julie’s phone, filmed today, which encouraged Eileen to dump him after fearing the relationship had run its course.
Julie acknowledged there was no wrongdoing by either party and thus suggested now was the right time to call things quits before people got hurt and upset.
Eileen was then left grieving her sister as well as dealing with the information she had been left.
As Todd eventually comforted her, a stark reality began to dawn upon the pair.
Todd suggested that it was highly likely that Julie had committed suicide.
With her diagnosis suggesting she had months left to live, her death came out of the blue for her family.
Todd went on to insist that Julie filming a slew of goodbye videos before having tearful ‘final’ conversations with her loved ones was a sure-fire sign that she knew that today would be her final day.
He also said her sending Eileen away for drinks was merely a ploy in order to take her own life.
As Eileen looked on reflectively, the mother and son duo comforted each other as Julie’s death began to sink in.
