Troops of the 7 Division/Sector 1 of Operation Hadin Kai, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have killed five Boko Haram terrorists during a successful ambush operation in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
The operation was disclosed in a post by counterinsurgency expert and security analyst, Zagazola Makama, on Saturday night via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle.
According to Makama, the ambush took place around 9:45 a.m. on Thursday along the Pulka road axis, close to the Mandara Mountains, a known terrorist route.
Quoting military sources, Makama wrote, “The troops, deployed from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Pulka, engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle at a suspected crossing point. During the firefight, the ambush team neutralised five terrorists while several others escaped with gunshot wounds.”;;
Items recovered from the scene include two AK-47 rifles, one AK-47 magazine, four rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a bicycle, and three bags filled with grains.
The operation forms part of renewed military efforts to flush out Boko Haram and ISWAP remnants from the North-East and restore peace to the region.
