Abia Nursing College cautions new students against exam malpractices, poor academic results

New students of Abia State College of Nursing Sciences, Abriba have been cautioned against indulging in examination malpractices, absenteeism during clinical postings and poor academic performance as such would not be tolerated.

The Provost of the College, Mrs Amarachi Okorie stated this on Thursday during the capping and matriculation of students in the College’s Basic Midwifery programs held at Abriba, Ohafia LGA of the State.

She urged them to take their studies seriously and to obey the College’s rules.

Mrs Okorie thanked Governor Alex Otti for upgrading all Nursing and Midwifery schools in the State to Collegiate status and for approving a new salary structure for the State’s health workers.

Earlier, the Head of the Midwifery Department, Mrs. Chigozie Ukaegbu, reminded the new intakes that success in the profession requires dedication, integrity, and self-discipline and encouraged them to uphold ethical standards and to remember the trust society placed in healthcare professionals.

Delivering the keynote address, guest lecturer Mrs. Anike Chinomso stressed the importance of soft skills in modern nursing practice, emphasizing compassion, empathy, and effective communication,.

She further urged the new students to develop emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills to better relate with diverse patient populations.
