The immediate past Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, stated that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is currently undergoing a natural growth phase, and it will emerge stronger if appropriate corrective measures are implemented.
Ikpeazu made these remarks at his residence in Umuobiakwa, located in the Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.
He emphasized that the PDP must start innovating and approach matters differently, placing a renewed emphasis on social justice.
He noted that social justice is as crucial as security, as individuals are often hesitant to engage in governance when they perceive unfair treatment.
The former governor explained that the party began to decline when its members became complacent and started taking their situation for granted.
“The PDP risks hitting rock bottom before it can recover if drastic action is not taken,” Ikpeazu cautioned.
Ikpeazu advised other political parties not to gloat over the PDP's current difficulties, underscoring that what the party is experiencing is a natural growth process that can happen to any organization.
“What is occurring with the PDP today is a natural reaction to the growth curve. There are four stages: the growth phase where input equals output, the phase of diminishing returns where input does not match output, and ultimately, decline.
“It’s a natural sequence that can impact any political party or organization,” he added.
