THIS is the horror moment skiers were swept away and buried by another huge avalanche in the French Alps.

Terrifying footage shows the massive snow slide crashing into three skiers at breakneck speed at the La Flégère resort in Chamonix.

Horrified witnesses can be heard screaming as they desperately try to escape the chaos.

Three people were buried up to their necks after the wall of snow cascaded over them.

They are all now safe, according to local media.

The hit slopes overlooking the top of La Flégère’s ski lift on Tuesday.

Snow swallowed up two ski runs, covering around 330 ft.

A 60-person-strong rescue party including ski patrollers, guides, instructors and a high-mountain gendarmerie platoon scrambled to the scene in search of victims.

Four dogs were also deployed to scour the area for signs of life.

It is believed to be the first avalanche to ever hit the area.

The region has seen significant snowfall in recent days after a powerful snowstorm, according to local media.

Several ski resorts have been to the highest levels across vast stretches of the Alps.

The death toll across France, Italy, Switzerland and Austria has already climbed above 60 this season alone.

In the French Alps at least 27 people have died this year, includingwho died in the past week.

It marks France’s highest death toll since the 2020 to 2021 season, when 40 people lost their lives in avalanches.

Polish-British national Piotr Ortonowski and his friend were killed in an avalanche in La Grave, an extreme resort in the French Alps, on February 17.

The horror snowslide and their instructor on an area of the slope which had been closed over safety concerns a week earlier.

The 36-year-old’s Piotr was a “very experienced” skier, having first taken to the slopes aged just two and a half years old.

That same week, Stuart Leslie, 46, and Shaun Overy, 51, were part of a in Val d’Isère when tragedy struck.

The party were being led by an instructor in the Manchet valley when the terrifying wave of snow hit.

Both Stuart and Shaun were swept down the valley and into a stream, where emergency services later found their bodies.

Their for “ignoring warnings”.
