The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, has called on Muslim faithful to leverage the sacred occasion of Eid-el-Fitr to pray for peace in Nigeria, in particular, and global stability.
In a message, Governor Nwifuru also urged Muslims to, like Prophet Mohammed, continue to show love, extend charity, and foster camaraderie with their neighbours in Nigeria, as the holy season requires.
This was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Dr Monday Uzor, and made available to journalists in Abakaliki.
“On this sacred and joyous occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, I extend my warmest greetings and heartfelt goodwill to our Muslim brothers and sisters in Ebonyi State, across Nigeria, and around the world.
“It is also a time that calls us to renew our commitment to the values of compassion, unity, and generosity.
“As you celebrate this auspicious festival, I urge you to continue to extend love, kindness, and charity to the less privileged among us, in keeping with the true essence of Islam.
“At this critical time in our national journey, I call on all faithful to offer prayers for enduring peace, unity, and stability in Nigeria.
“As our nation gradually approaches the 2027 political season, pray that we are guided by wisdom, tolerance, and a collective resolve to place the interest of our country above self, and ensure a violence-free election as espoused by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
“With the holy season of Ramadan, we must also remember to pray for global peace, that conflicts may cease and that humanity may embrace dialogue, understanding, and coexistence.
“On behalf of the Government and good people of Ebonyi State, I wish you all a peaceful, joyful, and blessed Eid-el-Fitr celebration.”
