The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) announced on Sunday that its members should convene in Washington, DC, United States, to protest against the Nigerian government's efforts to counter claims of a Christian genocide occurring in the country.

In a statement released by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, on behalf of the detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB stated that the protest aims to support United States President Donald Trump's initiative to end ethno-religious genocide in Nigeria.

The statement mentioned that the decision to organize the protest was prompted by reports indicating that a high-ranking Nigerian government delegation plans to visit the US to meet with President Donald Trump and other American officials regarding the alleged Christian genocide.

Entitled ‘All Judeo-Christians and Biafrans in the US, report to Washington DC’, the statement asserted, “A high-level Nigerian delegation is reportedly traveling to the United States to rehabilitate Nigeria’s tarnished international reputation and mislead world leaders into believing that peace, justice, and religious freedom prevail in that country. They aim to obscure the bloodshed.

“We refuse to allow the same government responsible for ethnic cleansing, forced displacements, church burnings, abductions, and mass burials of Indigenous Peoples to rewrite the narrative while the victims continue to suffer.”

“This is the moment to raise our voices powerfully in the capital of the free world. We must support President Trump in his efforts to end ethno-religious genocide in Nigeria!”

“For over a decade, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has alerted us to the jihadist expansion, land-grabbing agenda, and systematic extermination targeting Judeo-Christian populations.”

“He was abducted, tortured, and imprisoned because he refused to remain silent while his people faced extinction. We will honor his sacrifice by boldly bringing the truth to Washington, D.C.”

The statement emphasized the urgency of the protest, highlighting that Indigenous nations across Nigeria are being systematically overrun.

“Hausa ancestral identity is being erased. Nupe communities are being consumed. Middle Belt villages are being destroyed. Christian lands in Southern Kaduna are drenched in blood. Yoruba communities in Kwara are under siege. Biafraland is under constant military occupation.”

“If we do not take action, we will become the next headline, the next mass grave, the next ‘never again’ narrative. There is no neutral ground when faced with genocide.”

“Silence equates to surrender. Inaction signifies consent,” the statement reiterated.

IPOB emphasized that the protest must be peaceful, clarifying that the mobilization is not a call for violence or confrontation.

They characterized the protest as a call for a mass, peaceful, and unstoppable display of conscience.

The statement indicated that the call for protest is directed at every Biafran in the US, as well as Judeo-Christians, the Yoruba Nation, Middle Belt communities, Idoma, Tiv, Ijaw, Ibibio, and all Indigenous Peoples, human rights advocates, civil liberty organizations, and anyone with a conscience.

“No tribe stands alone anymore — unity is our shield. Our message to America and the world: No diplomatic lies can conceal mass graves. No lobbying can erase the tears of widows and orphans.”

“No propaganda can bury the truth indefinitely. The world must hear the cries of the persecuted. America must align with the oppressed — not the oppressor, and the streets of Washington must feel our presence,” the statement concluded.

According to the statement, the date, time, and location of the protest will be announced shortly.
