A CHURCH has been partly destroyed after a massive late-night inferno broke out and tore through the building.

Around 70 firefighters were scrambled to King’s Hall Methodist Church in Southall, , yesterday evening to tackle the fierce blaze.

Dozens of people rang the fire service to raise the alarm after the place of worship erupted into flames.

Ten fire engines responded to the scene as crews battled the fire well into the night.

The Fire Brigade (LFB) said the flames had since been brought under control but firefighters remained on scene well into the early morning to fully extinguish the flames.

The entire structure looks to have been engulfed in the intense fire which left a portion of the church a charred wreck.

According to the part of the ground floor, second floor and roof of the building were alight.

Fire crews deployed ladders to extinguish the blaze from above as smoke billowed into the sky.

Members of the public were urged to avoid the area while the blaze was brought under control.

It remains unclear what sparked the inferno with an into the cause now underway.

In an update in the early hours the said: “The fire on South Road in Southall is now under control.

“Crews will remain on scene into the early morning to fully extinguish the fire.

“South Road remains closed in both directions – please continue to avoid the area.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
