Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has granted clemency to six inmates of correctional facilities in Adamawa State.
The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Humwashi Wonosikou, explained that this act of mercy is in celebration of Nigeria’s 65th Independence.
Wonosikou announced in a statement on Wednesday that the inmates were granted this pardon after showing notable improvement in their behavior.
He quoted the governor as stating, “In the exercise of my prerogative of mercy as outlined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and in accordance with the recommendations of the Adamawa State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy, I have granted pardon to six individuals who have completed various jail terms and have consistently exhibited good conduct over the years.”
The governor has instructed the immediate release of the inmates and has directed the relevant authorities to act promptly on this order.
