Things got off to a dream start for the attacking midfielder when he scored just 13 minutes into his debut against Lens, but and was hauled off at half-time in Marseille’s 5-0 defeat to PSG.
Now may be worried about his development after
De Zerbi’s presence at the club and his style of were key in Arsenal’s decision to send Nwaneri on loan to Marseille.
Speaking when the deal was confirmed, Arteta said: “After discussing it with him, his father, the agent, and the club, we decided the best thing to do was to leave and go on loan.
“Then we have to pick the right place, and having all the options, understand the experience that we had in Marseille as well with [William Saliba], the fact that Roberto [De Zerbi] is there.
“ is an incredible developer of young talent and he’s a really courageous manager in the way he plays, the way he plays with young talent as well and he has a big track record about that.
“I think it fits the way of playing for the qualities that we want to see for Ethan. So it’s going to be a great experience for him.”
No replacement has been announced for De Zerbi yet, but Arsenal will be keeping their fingers crossed it is someone who will make use of Nwaneri.

The Gunners do not hold a break clause as part of Nwaneri’s loan deal and will have to wait until the summer until the rising star returns.
The timing will be frustrating for Arteta after he lost fellow midfielder Mikel Merino to injury in recent weeks.
Merino, 29, has been ruled out for “months” after undergoing surgery this Monday on a bone in his right foot.
Prior to his loan move, Nwaneri had made no Premier League starts for Arsenal this season and was limited to just 165 minutes off the bench.
The U21 international impressed last season, scoring nine times and registering two assists across 37 appearances in all competitions.
