Carse, who features in the England squad for the upcoming second Test against Pakistan, appears to be restrained and surrounded by four officers.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has confirmed Carse is currenly under investigation after the alleged incident.

“We are aware of an incident which is reported to have taken place in Derby last night, and are currently investigating,” an ECB statement read.

“We will provide a further update when possible.”

It is understood that Carse was not on England duty at the time of the incident.

Precise details remain unclear as to what prompted officers to allegedly place the cricketer in handcuffs outside the venue.

The 31-year-old star is understood to have returned to the team hotel shortly after the incident.

In the video, his Durham and England team-mate Matthew Potts appears to be attempting to speak with Carse during the commotion.

England Test captain is also spotted briefly towards the back of the shot as the scene unfolds.

It is understood that Carse was briefly detained by officers at the venue but was not formally arrested, according to The Telegraph.

Carse was set to be part of the England squad for the Lord’s Test on Thursday.

The team will assemble in London on Monday, with training beginning on Tuesday.

Carse had been an unused squad member during England’s victory in the first Test at Headingley, which concluded inside three days.

Following that match, he was released to play for his county, Durham, in their County Championship fixture at Derby.

Division Two leaders Durham secured a dramatic victory late on the third day of the contest.

Carse contributed to the victory, picking up two wickets across the match.

Stokes played a central role in the win, taking five wickets for 17 runs as collapsed to 84 all over in their second innings.

Several members of the squad subsequently went into Derby town centre to celebrate the team’s victory on the evening the alleged incident was filmed.

Injury has sidelined Carse from international action since his standout performance during the recent tour of Australia.

He finished that series as England’s leading wicket-taker after featuring in all five Test matches.

Born in South Africa, Carse has represented England for five years, accumulating 14 Test caps and 44 white-ball appearances.

His career has previously hit turbulence, including a three-month suspension handed down by the Cricket Regulator in 2024.

That sanction related to historic anti-corruption breaches involving bets placed on cricket matches between 2017 and 2019.

He made his Test debut shortly after serving that ban and has since established himself as a regular across all formats.
