The Northern Youth Frontier has urged leaders to show compassion in managing the country’s affairs.

The youths from the Northwest were reacting to how the Tinubu government handled the death and funeral of Hajiya Ummah El-Rufai, mother of the former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

El-Rufai was released from the custody of the ICPC, as reported by DAILY POST, so he could mourn and bury his mother according to Islamic traditions.

The former Kaduna State Governor has since been returned to the custody of the anti-graft agency to continue his trial.

A statement signed by Saminu Turaki, the North-West Coordinator of the group, said, “The temporary release of Malam Nasir El-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State, to attend his mother’s funeral is a sign that humane feelings should go beyond political differences.

“This action shows how important a person’s rights are and also reminds us that family connections are valuable and should be treated with care, especially when someone is going through a difficult time.

“It serves as a reminder that even in times of political conflict, the human experience of grief unites us all. We want our leaders to keep showing these good qualities, because when things get hard, our real power comes from helping each other out.

“Let this moment remind us how important it is for leaders to show compassion and to come together when people are hurting.”
