The former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, claims that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has failed to comply with a court order granting him bail.

The ex-AGF has also accused the anti-graft agency of subjecting him to unlawful detention and conducting a media trial.

Malami made these allegations on Wednesday in a statement released by his media aide, Mohammed Bello Doka.

He asserted that the EFCC disregarded a valid order from the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, which had granted him bail after he fulfilled all required conditions.

DAILY POST recalls that the FCT High Court granted him interim bail on December 23, 2025, in a case involving the EFCC, following considerations from both parties.

The court reportedly determined that the ex-AGF had satisfied the bail conditions and ordered his release while pending further proceedings, with the case adjourned to a later date in January.

However, Malami’s office alleged that despite being officially served with the court order, EFCC officials refused to accept the bail documents and dismissed the court bailiff, insisting on keeping him in custody.

The statement further indicated that the former minister has now been in detention for over 14 days without being arraigned before any competent court, a situation his lawyers have labeled as unconstitutional and oppressive.

The Kebbi-born politician also accused the EFCC of conducting selective media briefings intended to manipulate public opinion against him, which he characterized as a media trial following their inability to obtain judicial support.

“Court orders are not merely advisory; they are obligatory for all authorities,” the statement emphasized.

As of the time of this report, the EFCC had not yet responded to the allegations.
