THE eleventh Earl of Sandwich left an enormous seven-figure sum in his will when he died last year aged 81.
John Montagu passed away on February 1 last year, with the bulk of his estate going to his wife, Susan Caroline Montagu, the Countess of Sandwich.

The hereditary peer’s fortune was valued at just over £2.1million after deductions.
His ancestor, the fourth Earl of Sandwich, is itself by putting meat between two slices of bread so he could keep playing cards without stopping to eat.
It is thought he as part of a mezze – a selection of small dishes – on his travels.
In 2004, John Montagu honoured the family name by launching a sandwich business with his son Orlando.
The duo opened a shop called The Earl of Sandwich in Ludgate Hill in the City of .
Despite leaving most of his fortune to his wife, the former worker also made a series of smaller donations to causes close to his heart.
He left £750 to Christian Aid, where he once served as a director, alongside £500 to Save the Children, £300 to Care International UK and £200 to Anti-Slavery International.
Two churches also benefited, receiving £1,000 each – All Saints Church in Mapperton, , and St Mary Magdalene in Brampton, .
Family members were remembered too, with £5,000 left to his brother George Montagu and £1,000 gifted to each of his grandchildren.
His will detailed the charitable donations and family gifts before adding that the remainder of his estate should pass to his wife.
Susan, 83, married John in 1968 after they met at .
The couple had three children and ten grandchildren.
He joined the in 1995 and became an elected hereditary peer in 1999, where he was known for speaking out on poverty, refugees and humanitarian issues.
