The newly elected Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Dutse, Professor Ahmad Muhammad Gumel, has assumed office and unveiled his 11-point Strategic Development Plan.

Professor Gumel disclosed this while delivering his acceptance speech as the fourth substantive vice-chancellor on Thursday at the Nuhu Muhammad Sanusi Auditorium.

He said his mission is to cultivate an environment of academic rigour, knowledge development, and the free exchange of ideas and to produce graduates who are highly employable and recognised for their creativity and dedication to service.

According to him, to achieve these 11 points, a strategic development plan would be implemented, which includes academic excellence, research and innovation, digital transformation, student welfare and empowerment, staff welfare and development, and infrastructure expansion, among others.

According to him, the five-year development plan had been prepared and would be presented to the University Governing Council for approval.

The new vice-chancellor, a biotechnology scholar, holds a master’s degree and a PhD from the University of Malaya, Malaysia, and has over 45 academic publications, four books, and two international patents.

He previously served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Central Administration) and has pledged to strengthen academic excellence, research, and governance at the university.
