A taxi driver who was acquitted of stealing David Lammy’s suitcases has alleged that the Deputy Prime Minister slapped him during a heated seven-hour cab ride.
This incident involved a dispute with the Justice Secretary and his wife, Nicola Green, over a £700 fare while transporting them in April.

The driver, aged 40, claimed that Mr. Lammy became aggressive while he was preparing the bill.
He stated: “He started shouting, ‘f***ing French, f***ing French’ and I received several blows. He struck me [on the neck] with the palm of his hand.”
Mr. Mimun further expressed: “I feared he was going to attack me and that a fight would ensue. This made me think I was guilty.”
“Fortunately, they believed me.”
“This was a terrible situation – I could have ended up in jail.”
“It is Lammy who is at fault; he hasn’t compensated me for the additional amount I was owed.”
Last week, a French court dismissed theft charges against Mr. Mimun after he drove off with the couple’s bags still in his vehicle, which he returned the following day.
Mr. Lammy has denied any misconduct.
A source stated: “The driver’s allegations regarding him and his wife are complete nonsense.”
