THIS is the moment a giant cockroach crawled up a reporter’s neck on live TV.

The cockroach made its unexpected TV debut, when KTLA reporter Rachel Menitoff was live from , US.

Nightmarish video captures the moment the scuttling-bug erratically darts around the reporter’s chest and neck, before settling on her microphone.

Her eyes visibly widened as she felt the cockroach move.

Despite the insect’s unwelcome presence, Menitoff continued her report unfazed.

It was only after the live shot ended when she broke character – frantically brushing the bug away.

She said: “Oh gosh. Oh, I feel something.”

Menitoff has been widely praised for her bravery and professionalism.

Speaking with KTLA.com after the broadcast, Menitoff said she knew the cockroach had landed on her but made a conscious effort to stay focused until the report was finished.

“But I knew if I took notice of it, I wouldn’t be able to continue on with the report.

“I said to myself, just get through this moment and then kind of shake it off.

“Ironically, the story was about the extreme heat in the Valley, and these cockroaches are attracted to the heat and the warm temperatures and our camera lights.

“So, it was sort of the perfect environment for the roaches.”

The broadcast from hell was about the ongoing in the City of Angels at Sherman Oaks on Wednesday, June 15.

In praise of her colleague, news anchor, Megan Henderson, said: “That’s our Rachel Menitoff, who is so professional.

“There’s no way I would have been able to keep going.”

Meteorologist Kirk Hawkins said: “That’s terrifying.

“Now we’re all going to have nightmares about flying cockroaches.”

KTLA 5 reporter, Jessica Holmes said: “She’s just that much of a pro.”

The studio shared the off-air behind-the-scenes clip showing Menitoff putting down her microphone and quickly swiping her skin and shaking her microphone.

They then discussed the sudden influx of creepy-crawlies in the area, thanks to California’s recent extreme heat.
