A POPULAR family theme park has said it will remain closed – despite plans to reopen last month.

Brean Theme Park in originally opened back in 1946 as a camp site and today claims to be the ‘biggest free-entry theme park’ in the UK with over 40 rides.

However the which was meant to reopen on March 21 remains closed as it continues to face issues of liquidation.

This follows news in the first week of February that the theme park was at risk of closing forever as – where the theme park is located – went into liquidation and meant that the lease for the land the theme park is on had to be forfeited.

The Gazette, the UK’s official public record, at the time it stated that the theme park had gone into liquidation, with Nicholas Stafford of Hazlewoods LLP appointed as liquidator.

And on February 4, ‘resolutions for winding-up’ were published which meant that the company had to cease trading and essentially, close.

However, the following week the reassured Brits that it was going to reopen.

Peter Mainwaring, general manager, said: “We are working hard behind the scenes and will reopen for the 2026 summer season from

“Although the group structure has changed, our loyal visitors will still enjoy the same park, the same team, and the same great day out.”

The park also told fans to keep an eye on social media for updates.

He added: “For clarity, Brean Theme Park is not owned by Unity Holidays.

“We operate as a fully independent business and lease land from them. We look forward to continuing to work together.

“Preparations are underway and we can’t wait to welcome you back very soon.”

Though, the park’s gates are yet to open as a new update posted on the Brean Theme Park’s website on March 30 suggests there is still an issue.

The website states: “We would like to update our customers that we are still awaiting further communication from our landlord regarding access to the land on which the is situated.

“At this time, we remain unable to confirm whether we will be open, as this situation continues to be beyond our control.

“However, please be assured that we are ready and waiting to open to the public as soon as we receive the relevant permissions.

“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and uncertainty this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding.

“We will continue to provide updates as soon as more information becomes available.”

While it says it will open on April 3 on the website, this is yet to be confirmed.

The f is usually open between March and October.

While entry is free, visitors must pay for each ride – which cost a different amount of credits.

Credits can be purchased upon arrival at the theme park.
