ROBERTO MANCINI could be making a return to take charge of the Italian national team by NEXT MONTH.

will announce their new manager on June 22 but it’s not just the former boss in the running.

The former title-winning manager and Euro 2020 champion has resurfaced in rumours surrounding the italian job after Italy have now failed to qualify for a third consecutive .

had resigned from the managerial role in 2023 after he had disagreements with the board and a feeling of a lack of Support due to not having a say on his assistant coaches.

He was also under huge pressure after Italy failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup, which was a huge shock after their Euro truimph.

Mancini went on to coach the national team but that role was short lived after leaving in 2024.

The 61-year-old currently coaches Qatari side Al-Sadd, and has two years left on his contract.

But after another dissapointing qualification, which saw on penlaties of the World Cup qualifying playoff-final, it looks likethe board may look for his services again.

This embarrising loss also saw Italy boss Gennaro Gattuso leave his position days later by mutual consent.

There are a few candidates in the running for the Italian job ahead of next months board election, with some big names linked to the role.

is said to be a leading candidate after it was announced that he would be leaving Napoli at the end of the season.

AC Milan manager has also been linked to the job, with his future also said to be in the balance.

Italy have not played at a World Cup since 2014 and will not return until 2030 at the earliest.

For a nation that has previously wonfour World Cups, their recent legacy has been nothing short of dissapointing.
