Monique Tepe, 39, and her husband Spencer, 37, were both found shot dead in their home in Weinland Park, Ohio, on December 30.

Their children, both under the age of 5, were discovered unharmed in the residence, which showed no signs of forced entry.

The alarm was raised when Spencer did not arrive for work at Athens Dental Depot.

On Saturday, police confirmed that they had made an arrest in the case.

They had previously released a video of a person of interest, who has not been identified, as they investigated the theory that the couple was murdered between 2 am and 5 am.

The individual was seen walking down a snow-covered alley near the Tepe family's home with their hood up and hands in their coat pockets.

Following McKee's arrest, court documents indicate that police were led to him due to a fundamental CCTV error.

Detectives reported they tracked the suspect "to a vehicle that arrived just before the homicides and left shortly after."

The vehicle was found in Rockford, Illinois, along with evidence that McKee possessed the vehicle both before and after the murders.

No motive has been publicly disclosed, but authorities indicated they "suspected him from the beginning."

The 39-year-old surgeon and Monique were married on August 22, 2015, and separated just seven months later in March 2016, according to divorce records.

The official divorce proceedings commenced in May 2017 and were finalized by June 2017 on the grounds of incompatibility.

In the wake of McKee's arrest, his shocked neighbors in Lincoln Park, Illinois, have begun to speak out.

“He did not seem like someone who would commit such an act,” neighbor Gera-Lind Kolarik told ABC 7 Chicago .
