HUNDREDS of cars have been submerged in water at Heathrow Airport with drivers urged to contact their insurers.

A sea of were pictured underwater after the travel hub’s passenger and staff car parks flooded.

It occurred on Wednesday morning at the car parks accessed via the Eastern Perimeter Road near the Hilton Garden Inn hotel.

Shocking footage circulating on showed the car park and adjacent road completely inundated.

Motors including a , G-Wagon and were all affected with the flooding due to a “localised water issue”.

At its deepest, the water level can be seen reaching as high as the headlights and completely submerging their wheels.

The number of motors affected and the extent of the damage is not yet clear but said that the issue had now been “resolved”.

But it’s estimated that the value of the cars were collectively worth several millions pounds.

A clip of the carnage was posted online alongside the caption: “Imagine landing at Heathrow today only to find your car like this”.

Alexandra Pembroke said: “Imagine the post holiday depression already starting to kick in then you come back to this, jeez.”

Others appeared to poke fun at the situation with another person joking: “Noah is making a return, we were trying to gather all the animals”.

Another added: “Who left the bath running”.

bosses urged any passengers affected to contact the operator of the car park which is run by a third-party parking provider.

They were also advised to get in touch with their car insurers.

A Heathrow spokesperson said: “Yesterday morning, a localised water issue affected a Heathrow car park, operated by a third-party parking provider.

“The issue has since been resolved.

“We apologise for the inconvenience this has caused and advise that passengers who believe their vehicle may have been affected should contact their parking operator and, if necessary, their motor insurer.”

London Heathrow is the UK’s largest and busiest airport and handles over 84 million passengers a year.
