WILD weather will continue to batter a Brit holiday hotspot with heavy rain and snow for a further five days just weeks before the Easter break.

Storm Therese has left the in a prolonged state of instability as active warnings have remained in place for several days.

More snow is expected in Tenerife after the mountains in the Teide National Park were on Thursday.

Forecasters have predicted further snowfall in areas above 1,800-2,000 meters.

The Government of Canary Islands activated orange and yellow alerts across the region for heavy rain, storms, flooding and high waves.

The intense weather will continue for five more days, with some regions already reporting an escalation in conditions.

The Valsequillo City Council recorded heavy rain and strong winds on Friday morning, sparking several emergency situations including fallen trees and blackouts.

Emergency services are currently working to remove fallen branches that have blocked several major roads.

Building sites have also sustained serious damage as containers and construction fences have plunged to the ground due to the strong winds.

The city council has urged people to follow self-protection measures and “exercise extreme caution”.

Heavy rain has resulted in landslides in the early hours of the morning throughout Las Lagunetas and Cueva Grande, also leaving major roads blocked by the stray dirt and debris.

Residents are preparing for strong winds to continue through the weekend as several trees have also fallen in the area, blocking the road connecting San Mateo to Valsequillo.
