The UK Security Agency (UKHSA) said of the confirmed cases, six are the deadliest strain, Meningitis B – also known as MenB.
But the MenB vaccine is only and supermarket pharmacies for roughly £150 per dose.
Most people above primary school age are unprotected against MenB because routine NHS jabs for babies were only introduced in 2015.
Boots had already implemented a queuing system for customers earlier today to enter the vaccination service page of its website.
It warned that demand for its menB jab is currently high.
But in a statement on its website, Boots has now said: “Demand for the Meningitis B Vaccination Service is currently high and we’re having a few technical difficulties.
“We’re trying to get you through as soon as we can. Please bear with us or check back later.”
Other pharmacies have already told of running out of stock entirely.
Superdrug, meanwhile, has created a waiting list for the vaccine, with a note on its website informing customers of a “national shortage”.
It said it is “working with suppliers to access further stock”.
