ASTON VILLA fans were seen flooding out of Villa Park as they watched their side capitulate to relegation-threatened Tottenham.
On paper, it should have been a no-contest, a Champions League chasing side at home to a side in the bottom three and with one league win in 2026.

However, it was Spurs, who started the day in the bottom three, who came out swinging as Conor Gallagher scored the opener after 12 minutes.
Villa’s limp start was punished again as Richarlison powered home a header after 25 minutes.
And it seemed some of the Villa Park faithful thought, if their players weren’t going to bother, why should they?
After the second went in, sections of the home fans were seen streaming out of the stadium.
Villa have football in the Champions League next season all-but nailed on, but could still be caught by Bournemouth – who moved up to sixth today after a 3-0 win over Crystal Palace.
Yet three defeats in a row – first to Fulham in the league last week and then to Nottingham Forest in the semi-final of the Europa League – marks the first time this has happened to Emery’s side for 18 months.
The Spanish boss is a specialist in the Europa League and you wouldn’t bet against Villa to turn their 1-0 deficit around in the second leg on Thursday.
Yet in the league, some may be starting to question whether the players are on the beach, and the seven changes made by Emery today clearly suggested the league is far from the top of the squad’s priorities at this stage.
Taking to social media, one fan said: “An utter disgrace of 11 players not trying – after 7 changes that essentially say ‘we don’t care about this one’. Rarely been as angry as a fan.”
A second said: “Villa don’t look bothered and some fans already walking out!”
A third added: “The Aston Villa fans are over it. More fans leaving the stadium.”
Another said: “Aston Villa fans are disappointed and leaving.”
There is a six-point gap between Villa and Andoni Iraola’s Cherries, with a maximum of nine available.
But seeing Liverpool lose at Manchester United – who confirmed Champions League football next season with that win – earlier today gave Villa the chance to put that pressure on Arne Slot’s under-fire Liverpool.
That was squandered by the gutless display, with the team simply not at the races.
