ARSENAL have announced that they will face Borussia Dortmund in the Emirates Cup on August 9.

The Gunners will welcome Dortmund to the Emirates Stadium as part of their pre-season plans before they bid to defend their Premier League title.

are opting for a sensible approach to their pre-season preparations this summer given the large number of their players participating in the World Cup.

The champions have 15 different stars at the Stateside tournament, with the majority of those players expected to advance into the knockout stages.

As a result, the club has decided to keep its preparations close to home and play its first friendly later than most teams.

While other top clubs have planned pre-season tours of Asia, the USA and the Southern Hemisphere, Arsenal will remain in Europe.

Prem rivals play their first pre-season friendly on July 18, two weeks before Arsenal return to the pitch.

The Gunners kick off their preparations for the 2026/27 season with a friendly against Girona in Spain on August 1, before taking on in Dublin on August 5.

In addition to their Emirates Cup fixture against Dortmund, Arsenal are planning another pre-season friendly the following midweek.

It is understood that Cesc Fabregas’ Como are being considered as potential opponents for that game, which will likely take place on August 12.

Arsenal will then face in Cardiff in the on August 16, just five days before they begin their Premier League campaign against Frank Lampard’s newly-promoted side.

Coventry will travel to the Emirates in the Prem’s curtain-raiser on Friday, August 21 at 8pm.

Arsenal are expected to revert to their usual pre-season tour in 2027, but they have focused on managing player workload this summer following an intense campaign and the World Cup.
