National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, has clarified the manner the votes were counted during the party’s presidential primary election.
Several videos emerged during the elections showing a dramatic counting of votes with the collation officers jumping numbers.
A particular incident happened in Abia State with the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representative, Benjamin Kalu, telling the collation officer, ‘begin your count’ and the man began the count and went from 11 to 1013 to 2400 then to 7000.
While many people have frowned at the irregularities, the party’s national Chairman said, “the data we have for Abia is quite different. Because election took place at ward level, and there is no ward in Abia State, no singular ward in Abia has 7000 voters.
“That’s the data we have. if you know, people can mimic counting at any point, people can do their drama, but I work with data.
“If there was a mimic counting or a drama that took place, it didn’t affect the data of total votes.
“Because you know there are people who make dramas and jokes at centers, but it has nothing to do with the overall figures.”
