Former beach soccer star, Abu Azeez, has cautioned the Super Eagles about the challenges posed by the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) match on Saturday.

Nigeria and Tunisia both secured victories in their opening matches of the ongoing 2025 AFCON in Morocco and will face off later on Saturday in the second group stage fixtures.

Azeez emphasized that the Super Eagles must prevent their North African rivals from scoring, as this could create pressure on Nigeria.

He stated on the Home Turf podcast, “The game against Tanzania has passed. Now, we’re up against Tunisia, a stronger team.

“A loss to Tunisia would increase pressure on the squad ahead of the final group match. At this stage of the tournament, any team can emerge victorious.”

Since the Super Eagles lost 1-0 in their last encounter with Tunisia, Azeez advised that Nigeria should not seek revenge but should approach the match as just another game.

“We know that the Tunisians are very quick, and they possess both physicality and technique. They play in a style similar to Europeans, so we must do everything possible—maintaining focus and achieving a 90 percent level of concentration.

“We should aim to score first and secure a second goal, which is entirely feasible. The Tunisians are not invincible. We can defeat them convincingly.

“We must strive to avoid conceding first because I understand the Nigerian squad. Allowing the first goal will put them under pressure,” he concluded.
