The All Progressives Congress, APC, has received top profile detectors into its Adamawa State chapter, including a former deputy governor, Chief Crother Seth.
Seth, who was the deputy governor throughout the first term of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri (2019-2023), officially became an APC member after leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) along with hundreds of other defectors on Thursday.
He ost opportunity to return as deputy after Fintiri chose a woman, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, to run with him in the 2023 governorship election mainly because a woman, Senator Aishatu Ahmed (Binani) of the APC was giving Fintiri a tough fight.
It was widely believed that Fintiri needed a woman of repute to take some of the shine off Binani.
Other notable people who officially joined the APC during the Thursday event include a businessman and philanthropist, Abdulrahman Haske, a former chief judge of Adamawa State, Ambrose Mamman, and a former speaker of the state House of Assembly, Gibson Nathaniel.
The National Vice Chairman of the APC (North East), Mustapha Salihu, said the party was proud to have the new members.
Reception for the defectors was one of three main activities of the APC in Yola Thursday as the party also officially opened its new state secretariat, in addition to holding a solidarity rally for President Bola Tinubu.
The APC national vice chairman and the others who spoke at the event, urged Nigerians to trust that the reforms introduced by Tinubu which may currently be causing hardship, would in good time produce pleasant results.
