To ensure a peaceful and seamless Yuletide celebration in Nasarawa State, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, convened a meeting with Area Commanders, Squadron and Operational Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and heads of tactical units across the state.
This meeting was in response to a directive from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, instructing all police commands nationwide to enhance security measures during the festive season.
As stated by the command’s spokesperson, SP Ramhan Nansel, CP Mohammed emphasized the need for “relentless raids on identified hotspots and criminal hideouts,” as well as increased confidence-building patrols and heightened visibility policing throughout Nasarawa State.
He urged officers and personnel of the command to perform their duties with professionalism and commitment to ensure that residents can celebrate the season in a safe and secure environment.
“Our aim is to guarantee that the people of Nasarawa State enjoy a peaceful and secure Yuletide celebration without fear or interruptions,” CP Mohammed stated.
The police commissioner also reiterated the existing prohibition on the use, sale, and possession of firecrackers and other explosive devices, warning that those who violate this ban will face severe legal consequences.
“Anyone caught in possession of, or involved in the use or sale of firecrackers and other explosive devices will be dealt with according to the law,” he cautioned.
He urged parents and guardians to advise their children and wards against participating in activities that could jeopardize lives and property during the festivities.
“Parents and guardians must take responsibility by guiding their children and wards to avoid engaging in activities that could endanger lives and property during the festive season,” he added.

The Nasarawa State Police Command reassured residents of its dedication to safeguarding lives and property before, during, and after the Yuletide celebrations, encouraging the public to cooperate with security agencies and promptly report any suspicious activities.
