The World Cup taking place in the , and has caused quite a stir already considering and are expected to splurge out for official tickets.

However, those ticket prices have reached new levels on ‘s official resale platform.

Fifa are not selling tickets themselves, but take a fee of 30 per cent – 15 from buyer and 15 from seller – for each ticket sold.

As reported by BBC Sport , 6,135 tickets have been listed by sellers across the six group stage games involving and .

In the case of ‘s Three Lions, 3,198 tickets were available to buy on the resale platform.

The cheapest ticket is the clash with , a category three game with a face value of £201.

But resellers have taken liberties with the cheapest resale ticket being priced at a staggering £628.

This difference is even more profound in the category four fixtures.

Most of these games were listed at £45 in the original October ballot.

However, the England v Croatia game has the only two tickets in this category marked up to an eye-watering £1,486 and £1,748.

Indeed, the highest price across categories reaches £13,110.

Meanwhile, the best price for a category two ticket for the game is £612 from a face value of £327, with the cheapest category one tickets then priced as low as £918 from £456 face value.

However, there is one ticket for this game in category one with a stunning price of £22,274.

This phenomenon is similar for Scotland games.

Fans hoping to watch ‘s side against face paying at least £524 from a face value of £304, while the most expensive category four ticket is listed for £2,185 from an original price of £53.

But the most egregious example of a mark-up comes with a category four ticket for Scotland v .

This match has a face value of £45, but the seller has put it up for resale at a colossal £8.635MILLION.

That ticket, in the unlikely event it is sold for such a wild price, would see Fifa earn a commission of £2.28m.

There are currently 421 tickets on resale for the final.

The most expensive of these comes in at £139,840 from a face value of £6,597.

However, many others are priced at around £8,652 from face values ranging from £2,030 to £4,237.

Thomas Concannon of the Football Supporters’ Association’s England fans’ group told the BBC: “The only base we’ve got to go off really is the .

“A lot of cheaper tickets became available, and certainly for the later rounds, in what you would consider the bigger games.

“That’s all maybe what supporters would have to go off at the minute in the hope that the prices do come down, and what they can be able to obtain through that model.”
