Watford hero, Troy Deeney, has warned England duo Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw about Senegal striker Ismaila Sarr ahead of both teams’ World Cup round of 16 tie on Sunday evening.
Sarr, who currently plays his club football at Watford, is expected to lead Senegal’s attack line against England in the absence of the injured Sadio Mane.
Speaking ahead of the match, Deeney said that Sarr is scary and will cause problems for England defenders, including Maguire and Shaw.
“He runs so effortlessly. At the same time, when Ismaila is on it, he is scary,” Deeney told The Sun.
“He’ll cause a lot of problems for England out wide, especially their full-backs. I remember a match against Manchester United at Vicarage Road in December 2019.
“We [Watford] won 2-0, Ismaila scored and he gave Luke Shaw a miserable time.
“He also played up against Shaw and scored in another win at Vicarage Road last season, that 4-1 game that got Ole Gunnar Solskjaer [former Manchester United manager] the sack.
“Harry Maguire played in both of those as well and he was on the back foot the whole time, worried about what was going to be sprinting in behind him.”
