What We Do in the Shadows Cast Looks Back at Season 2 During Comic-Con@Home Panel

FX brought the vampires of What We Do in the Shadows to [email protected] for a special, virtual panel. This year’s San Diego Comic-Con, like many major events in 2020, wasn’t able to proceed as planned. So we will not be getting the annual gathering of thousands in downtown San Diego for the largest pop culture event of the year. Instead, the organizers of the event have shifted gears and crafted a massive, weekend-long online convention that anyone can enjoy, so long as they have an internet connection. And this is just one part of the festivities.

Join in raising a glass of regular human alcohol beer to the sharp-toothed cast, Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou, Kayvan Novak, Mark Proksch, and Harvey Guillen, as well as members of the creative team for what is being called “a spirited discussion.” The [email protected] panel is set to be hosted by special guest, Haley Joel Osment, who also appeared on the series.

What We Do in the Shadows season 2, which aired earlier this year, saw the vampires trying to find their way in a world of human Super Bowl parties, internet trolls, and an energy vampire who gets a promotion and becomes drunk on power. They also have to contend with all the ghosts, witches, necromancers, zombies and shadowy cloaked assassins who roam freely in the Tri-State area. There was also that surprising twist in season 2 that made it clear Guillermo is more than just a simple human familiar. That is undoubtedly a thread that will be pulled when the show returns.

The series is based on the 2015 movie of the same name. Taika Waititi, known for his work on Thor: Love and Thunder and Jojo Rabbit, co-directed the movie with Jemaine Clement, of Flight of the Conchords fame. Though not a huge box office hit at the time, the movie was met with widespread critical acclaim and has since gone on to become a cult classic of sorts. But the popularity of the universe has exploded since the show made its debut, with viewership picking up in season 2. FX renewed the show for a third season back in May, so we should hopefully be getting some details during the panel. Comic-Con is often associated with surprises and reveals. So, even though this year is all virtual, don’t be surprised if we get some big news or new info.

Jemaine Clement created the series. Clement, Taika Waititi and Paul Simms are Executive Producers alongside Scott Rudin, Garrett Basch, Eli Bush and Stefani Robinson. Be sure to check out the What We Do in the Shadows panel for yourself. We will be keeping up with all of the happenings at this year’s event, so be sure to follow along with the rest of our coverage of comic-con.org.
