WELSH RUGBY has hit a new low after giving away FREE tickets following their dismal defeat to England.

The damning defeat means that they have lose their last 12 Six Nations games dating back to 2023.

have also suffered 22 losses out of their previous 24 internationals.

They had lost 18 consecutive tests before they beat Japan 31-22 in July 2025.

The appalling form has raised fears that Sunday’s match against France could be the lowest-ever-attended Six Nations match at the Principality Stadium.

The Welsh (WRU) has now given away 2,000 free tickets to stewards for the game.

It is not the first time a reward like this has happened for the stewards but it is surprising for a Six Nations clash.

An anonymous steward told The Telegraph: “This is highly unusual.

“It’s happened in the autumn internationals, but in my 20 years at the stadium, I can only remember a Six Nations giveaway like this happening for an Italian match years ago.

“They obviously, on occasion, do it for NHS workers and those in the forces, but we are paid staff.”

It comes after reports emerged that over 18,000 tickets are yet to sell in the 74,000-capacity stadium.

The attendance at the Principality has only dipped below 60,000 once in the Six Nations.

That was in 2002, when just 58,349 people watched on as Wales took on Italy in a wooden spoon decider.

There is confidence in the WRU that the stadium will have at least 60,000 people in it for the game against France.

WRU COO Gavin Marshall said: “Ticket buying habits are undoubtedly changing and sales have sped up since the start of the Guinness Six Nations, with run rates reaching over 1,000 a day this week.

“We have some of the most loyal fans in the world game in Wales and we know they will be in good voice on Sunday, for the a cappella anthem and beyond, to help make home advantage count in what will obviously be a huge contest for us.

“We always work hard to fill Principality Stadium to its rafters and we are confident the expected attendance will make for another incredible matchday experience for all involved.

“We have half-time entertainment in the form of Welsh singer-songwriter Molly Roberts and, alongside our new caterers Aramark, delivering a world-class rugby match-day experience is a top priority.”
