- Dr. Pimple Popper removes a computer mouse-sized lipoma from the husband of Ru Paul Drag Race star Michelle Visage in a new YouTube video.
- The 16-minute video is a straight, up-close, unflinching look at a whole surgerywith some witty banter.
- Lipomas are fatty tissue that gets stuck between skin and muscles and has a squishy consistency.
Todays Dr. Pimple Popper YouTube video features a celebrity guest: Michelle Visage , pop singer, New York City radio host and judge on Ru Pauls Drag Race. But dont expect to see much of her.
Instead, the camera stays focused squarely on the gruesome opening from which dermatologist and TLC star Dr. Sandra Lee, MD extricates a lipoma, large enough to fill the entire palm of her hand, from the torso of Visages husband, David Case , an author and screenwriter.
A cushy meeting of reality TV stars it is not. Its a 16-minute uncut, unblinking surgical close-up and it is not for the squeamish.
However, Dr. Lee, Visage, and Case engage in some amusing commentary about the process, comparing it to a C-section and joking about the depth of the cut.
Can you see my ribs? Case asks.
Wow, I felt that, he says, as Dr. Pimple Popper extends her stomach in for another slice of the lipoma. That was into my stomach.
A lipoma is a slow-growing lump of fat that gets stuck between the skin and an underlying muscle layer. Popaholics have seen Lee remove a few memorable ones.
If you can stomach the whole video, there is a neat explanation of the methodology behind stitches: Theres one set to immediately close the wounds and another to support the skin as it heals.
