His mum Glenda passed from a heart attack aged 80, a few months ago,
Yet he continued to work through his grief – and has now revealed the reason why in an exclusive chat with The Sun.
He told us he had a call while in London at 7am, during which his sister told him Glenda had sadly died.
Talking about the new series of his programme, which chronicles his rural life, he told us: “I lost my mum while we were doing the show.
“While we were doing the show, I didn’t say anything. And then we were walking with the cameraman.
“I was out with the cameraman and we were looking for this, we called it the ghost. We were looking for this fallow deer.
“It’s fallow buck that I’d only seen once or twice, a big white one. I’ve seen
a couple of glimpses of it.
“So I took the cameraman one evening. I kind of know where it is,
but I don’t see it.
“And nobody knew that I’d lost my mum.”
He then told how he travelled to Northampton for the funeral and how cameraman Charlie “hadn’t said anything” about his grief.
Vinnie added: “He said ‘I’m really sorry about your mum and all that.’
“And we started chatting about it and we opened up.
“And when you help people with mental health, sometimes you do want to talk about it, but it’s not the right person to talk to.”
Yet he admitted he “felt safe” to share his true emotion with “country boy” Charlie.
CARRYING ON
Vinnie then explained the reason he continued to film in London after getting the heartbreaking call.
He told how he was going to “keep swinging” and said: “Don’t work for me, you know, going home and sitting at bed.
“What am I going to do? So I want to keep swinging and I’m not banging on the same drum.
“But what I am saying is I’ve had the experience of losing my wife and
me mum, so I’ve been though this.
“So when I can help people, I do it, and I’m not doing it for self pity or anything.
“It’s the opposite. I’m doing it to help people.”
Vinnie’s wife Tanya tragically passed aged 53, in July 2019,
