The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has paid an unscheduled visit to Abia State to inspect ongoing Federal government road projects and some federal roads being reconstructed by Governor, Alex Otti.

This is even as he has appealed to Governors in the country to partner with the federal government by carrying out projects in their states, irrespective of their political party differences.

Umahi, who was in Abia State on Thursday, said the ongoing projects would be ready for commissioning by President Bola Tinubu later in the year.

The Minister who said he embarked on the working visit without prio information to Governor Otti, commended him for reconstructing some Federal roads in the State and delivering quality road projects.

Speaking during his visit to the Governor after the inspection, the Minister of works said the inspection would enable him to properly report to the President about the quality of the projects he would be commissioning in Abia when the President visits.

“I didn’t want to tell you, I didn’t want you to know I was coming but I’m here principally to secretly look at some of our projects in Abia State that we want to commission by December and also look at some of the great projects you are doing that the President will commission when he visits Abia State, so that I’ll be able to report properly to him,”; Umahi told Otti.

He expressed satisfaction with the quality of works done on Port Harcourt road in Aba by the Abia State government and used the opportunity to urge the Igbo nation to “reason and stand”; with President Bola Tinubu.

Governor Alex Otti in his response reiterated his administration’s commitment to collaborating with the federal government in delivering key infrastructural projects that would impact positively on the lives of the people.

He appreciated the Federal government’s support to Abia State and assured that the state would continue to partner with the the government as one administration.
