Governor Uba Sani has enacted the 2026 Appropriation Bill, allocating the largest portion of 25% to Education from Kaduna State's N985.9 billion budget.
During a speech at the Council Chambers of Sir Kashim Ibrahim House on Tuesday, the Governor stated that the budget “demonstrates our commitment to solidifying the achievements we've made while establishing even more robust foundations for sustainable growth.”
Governor Uba Sani revealed that N698.9 billion, which represents 70.9 percent of the budget, has been earmarked for capital expenditure, focusing on infrastructure development, economic growth, and enhanced service delivery.
He further explained that “recurrent expenditure amounts to N287 billion, or 29.1 percent, ensuring that essential government services operate efficiently and responsibly.”
Providing a detailed breakdown of the budget, the Governor stated that Education received 25 percent because “we believe that knowledge is the most powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty and securing our children's future.”
“Infrastructure and rural transformation also comprise 25 percent, reflecting our commitment to opening up communities, connecting markets, and stimulating economic activity throughout the state.”
“Health receives 15 percent, affirming our belief that a healthy population is the foundation of productivity and human dignity. Agriculture and food security are allocated 11.65 percent, reinforcing our dedication to feeding our people, empowering farmers, and strengthening our local economy,” he revealed.
According to Governor Sani, his administration “has also made intentional provisions for climate change initiatives, nutrition, and environmental sustainability, acknowledging the realities of our time and our duty to future generations.”
Titled the Budget of “Consolidation Of Transformation For Inclusive Development,” he emphasized that its key feature is the administration’s commitment to rectify long-standing exclusion errors.
“By allocating N100 million to every ward in Kaduna State for community-driven projects, we are empowering our citizens to identify their priorities and drive development from the grassroots. This represents governance that listens, governance that includes, and governance that delivers,” he argued.
The Governor asserted that his administration is dedicated to fiscal discipline and responsible financial management.
“The 2026 budget does not introduce any new loans, and we have already paid N114.9 billion in debt servicing. This demonstrates our commitment to safeguarding the future of Kaduna State while addressing current needs,” he stated.
According to him, the 2026 budget transcends mere figures and projections, as it promises “progress, opportunity, and an improved quality of life for every citizen of Kaduna State.”
However, the Governor noted that its success will rely on effective implementation and ongoing collaboration with the Kaduna State House of Assembly, assuring a harmonious and productive relationship with the legislature.
“Together, we have positioned Kaduna as Nigeria’s beacon of peace and tranquility, and together we will maintain this stability as the foundation for development.”
“By collaborating, we will consolidate transformation, enhance inclusion, and build a Kaduna State that truly serves everyone,” he pledged.
