PETE Hegseth mistakenly quoted an iconic scene from Pulp Fiction instead of the bible while leading a prayer at the Pentagon yesterday.
The US Defence Secretary urged Christians to pray with him while discussing the rescue mission of a US fighter pilot stranded in .

But his appeal backfired after he miss-quoted a biblical verse using lines from the iconic Quentin Tarantino movie instead.
Hegseth said: “You will know my call sign is Sandy 1 when I lay my vengeance upon thee”.
The actual bible verse from Ezekiel 25:17 pledges “great vengeance upon them with furious rebukes”, which was changed by director Tarantino.
The altered version is righteously delivered by Samuel L. Jackson’s character in the movie just before he shoots a man to death.
Hegseth told listeners that the prayer was recited by the recent “Sandy One” Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) mission to rescue a downed airman Iran.
“They call it CSAR 25:17, which I think is meant to reflect Ezekiel 25:17,” the secretary said.
Hegseth earlier vowed that the US was “locked and loaded” to resume combat as the clock ticked down to the end of the shaky Iran War ceasefire on Wednesday.
Military chief General Dan Caine added that forces including thousands of newly-arrived troops were “ready to resume major combat operations at literally a moment’s notice”.
Centcom chiefs told yesterday an Iranian cargo ship was among at least 13 vessels forced to turn back by US battleships blockading the paralysed Strait of Hormuz
A spokesman said the “Iranian-flagged cargo vessel” attempted to evade patrolling warships by skirting the Iranian coast as it navigated the strait.
It performed a swift U-turn when confronted by the USS Spruance guided-missile battleship and headed back towards the Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas.
Centcom stressed no vessels entering or leaving Iranian ports have made it past US forces since the start of the blockade on Monday.
But the 24-mile artery – carrying a fifth of the world’s crude supplies – also remained shut down to other vessels threatened by the rogue state yesterday.
Peace talks aimed at ending the economically crippling 49-day war will resume in Pakistan next week.
Historic peace talks are also planned between and Lebanon – which harbours Iran-backed Hezbollah – for the first time since 1993.
But the spectre of bloody escalation remains – along with World War III fears – as Iran continues to defy Trump demands to scrap its nuclear aims and stop funding terror.
Around 6,000 more US ground troops were heading to the war zone yesterday aboard the USS George H W Bush aircraft carrier and its escort ships.
They will join 4,200 amphibious troops aboard the USS Boxer from the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit expected before the end of the month.
Around 3,500 troops on the USS Tripoli recently entered the war zone supported by 3,000 crack airborne troops already flown to within striking distance of the front line.
It comes after Pope Leo launched an extraordinary attack on “tyrants” who spend billions on war in a thinly-veiled blast at yesterday.
The pope hit back after days of abuse from the US president who has branded him “very weak” and accused him of thinking “it’s OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon”.
Leo said on a papal visit to strife-torn Cameroon: “The world is being ravaged by a handful of tyrants.
The masters of war pretend not to know that it takes only a moment to destroy, yet often a lifetime is not enough to rebuild.”
Trump turned on the leader of the world’s 1.4 billion Catholics – including 70 million in the US – after Leo declared the Iran War “truly unacceptable” last week.
He also described Trump’s recent threat to destroy “an entire civilisation” in Iran as morally indefensible.
Trump posted a messiah-like AI image of himself healing a man on his sickbed after the row broke on Monday but took it down following a backlash from outraged Christians.
America’s Bible belt voters make up a crucial tranche of his support and he later attempted to assure them the image showed him posing as a doctor.
